Part of a Macbeth Conversation

I do wish I had save the whole thing - we are totally missing the Lady Macbeth section - this is the second half of the witches discussion... I just like Shakey conversations and feel they are worth mentioning.

You have to read it in the comments sections blogger is being weird...

because they need to feel connected the something
in order for it to be believable
i mean, i think its questionable for a reason

i was once told macbeth and hamlet are the same play - only macbeth is a soldier and a man of action where hamlet is a philosopher
both men are given some sort of otherworldy experience that they must choose to beleive or not to believe then act or not act upon
Macbeth acts - because he's a soldier - not a thinker - thats what he does (with more than a little push from he wife)
Hamlet just sits around and thinks about it for four hours

    hahah
    that's kind of true
but, what i like about shakespeare
is it really makes you wonder
    whether the supernatural
    12:38amMegan
I mean - in Hamlet - is the ghost real? if it is is it really hamlets father or a demon, and is it telling teh truth
    12:38amAmanda
    is really supernatural
    yeah
    its like what jung says
    about how
the subconscious reveals itself as destiny
    so really
is hamlet even seeing a ghost
or is he just distraught and delirious
    12:40amMegan
well and I wonder - how many times have YOU felt connected to something supernatural - like you jsut have GUT feeling feeling, or had a crazy dream full of premonitions - so all these people are having these experiences that they TRULY believe whehter they actually exist or not
    12:40amAmanda
and, i mean, the witches could just know politics well
    12:40amMegan
which goes along with what you just typed!
    12:40amAmanda
    yeah, excalty
    12:41amMegan
and macbeth is expecialy intersting because he actually hallucinates a few times
he sees a dagger before him
he sees the ghost of banquo
    12:42amAmanda
but then, in reality, the supernatural could just be a moment of clearer connection with the collective consciousness
yeah, i mean i think those are definitely hallucinations
    its like the dream
like his guilt is thrusting images forward
    from his subconscious
where hes tried to suppress them
    to something he can't ignore
    12:44amMegan
but the witches other people see
    12:44amAmanda
    and who know
    yeah
i dont think they are hallucinations
    12:44amMegan
but - I completely concur with what you said above
    12:44amAmanda
    eyah
    i don't know
i have to read it agian
    to get a clearer idea
but i like that image of them
    as being somehow ancient mystics
    but also derelicts
so you really dont know if you should trust them
i mean, they could just be drugging everyone
    hahaha
like how the cia gave people lsd to get them to tell the truth
    haha
    12:46amMegan
well there is that scene where macbeth goes to their cave
and is like SUMMON HECATE I WANNA HEAR MORE
they could TOTALLY jsut drug him
    give him absinthe or soemthing
    make him see Hacate
    12:47amMegan
er Hecate - I cant type
